Frequently Asked Questions
Extension+ is a newly established education provider created with the intention of supporting and strengthening the dance community in Melbourne’s North West. Our focus is on delivering professional, ethical, and nationally accredited education that complements existing studio training rather than competes with it.
We value collaboration, transparency, and respectful relationships with dancers, families, teachers, and studios. If you are a parent, student, or dance educator with any questions, concerns, or would like further clarification about how our programs work alongside studio training, we warmly encourage you to get in touch—we are always happy to have an open conversation.

1. Is this instead of my regular dance training?
Yes and No. Students need to be completing a number of hours of training and in certain genres as part of the criteria of the CUA10120 Cert II in Dance and CUA30120 Cert III in Dance. Some of these classes need to be taken with our Extension+ Trainer & Assessor to fulfill RTO requirements.
However, for the Extension+ Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching is designed to complement studio training, not replace it. Students complete their practical hours within their regular dance classes while completing theory and assessment work through Extension+ with minimal additional time commitment.

2. How much extra time does the course require each week?
The course is intentionally designed for busy dancers. Students are required to attend 3 Hour monthly Education Sessions where theory and assessment work is presented by the Trainer and Assessor. Most students then complete their assessment work through our online learning portal, requiring minimal additional hours outside their normal training schedule. Our Certificate Courses are all designed to be completed on a part time basis over a 12 month period. However, should a student require extra time to meet the compliance and attain the standard, then extra time can be arranged.

3. Can this qualification count toward VCE?
In many cases, yes. A CUA30120 Certificate III in Dance OR CUA30320 Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching may contribute VCE credit through VET if arranged and permitted through the individual school. We recommend families speak with their school’s VET coordinator to confirm how the qualification will be recognised in their individual circumstances.

4. Who are these courses suitable for?
Our courses are best suited to committed, motivated dancers who are training regularly and are ready to take a more professional approach to their education. Certificate II is ideal for younger or emerging dancers, while Certificate III suits students training at a higher level who are preparing for future pathways.
5. What support is available if a student is struggling or falls behind?
We provide ongoing learning support, clear guidance, and regular check-ins. Students are supported through feedback, resubmission opportunities, and personalised assistance to ensure they can progress confidently and successfully.

6. How are assessments completed?
Assessments are completed through a combination of online theory tasks, group presentations, short written tasks, Research assignments, reflective work, and practical evidence gathered from the student’s regular dance training. This approach ensures assessments are relevant, realistic, and aligned with industry practice.

7. Is this course suitable if dance is not my final career goal?
Yes. The skills developed through accredited dance training — discipline, time management, self-reflection, and professional standards — are highly transferable and valuable across many career pathways.
